Canada doesn't charge sales tax on contact lenses or adult diapers. So should it tax feminine hygiene products?

The two menstruators Sarah Berman interviewed for the Tyee don't think so. Their petition calling for Canadian tax law to reclassify tampons as "essential" medical devices like lenses and diapers has amassed over 50,000 online signatures and counting.

Their campaign supports NDP MP Irene Mathyssen's private member's bill to drop GST on all things "that time of the month."
