Tyee Poll: Do You Support a $15-an-hour Minimum Wage?

The call to "supersize" fast food workers' salaries reached McDonald's lunch counters last week, as labour unions in B.C. and Ontario called on provincial leaders to raise Canadian wages. Organizers stood outside the fast food giant's flagship restaurants, collecting signatures demanding $15-an-hour minimum wage.

 

The demo was part of an international push to bring entry-level workers above the poverty line. Seattle was the latest to hike its hourly minimum from $7.25 to $15 in September.

 

But the fight-for-15 campaign has yet to claim victory north of the border, as critics say raising the rates could disproportionately punish small business. Given the cost of living where you live, we're curious…
