Win a Pair of Weekend Passes to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival

Sign up as a Tyee Builder before July 15 to enter.

Ahh, summertime in Vancouver: when the fair-weather cyclists return to the bike paths, the line between office attire and beachwear gets perilously thin, and Jericho Beach welcomes musicians from around the world at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival.

Haven't got your tickets to this Vancouver institution yet? Your procrastination may well pay off. The Tyee has a pair of weekend passes to the festival to give away to one lucky Tyee reader. All you have to do is sign up as a Tyee Builder at $10 per month or more using this link, and you'll be entered for a chance to win the tickets.

The passes give you and a friend full access to the entire three days and two nights of the festival, a value of over $300.

If you've been toying with the idea of supporting The Tyee's reporting by becoming a Tyee Builder, now would be the time. Supporting independent, fact-driven journalism is its own reward, of course, but who doesn't love a chance to access an acclaimed music festival in return?

This year's Vancouver Folk Music Festival is jam-packed with great acts like Adam Cohen, Angélique Kidjo, Frazey Ford and over 60 other artists from 15 countries. Check out the lineup here.

The festival runs July 17 to 19, kicking off with a blur of sandals and tie-dye we’ve dubbed the Birkenstock 500. It’s an annual ritual not to be missed.

A win-win opportunity

Earlier this year, more than 1,000 Tyee Builders pledged over $75,000 to fund The Tyee's federal election reporting. Major political parties are already prodding Canadians with attack ads and new promises. Now is a great time to top up The Tyee's reporting fund so that we can unleash our team of fierce, independent reporters this fall. The more we raise, the more we can do.

A chance to win a pair of Folk Fest tickets is just one great part of being a Tyee Builder. When you support The Tyee, you'll get access to all kinds of fun benefits, like book giveaways, chances to win festival passes, discounts to Tyee Master Classes and events, and discounts at partnering independent businesses (coming soon). In fact, existing Tyee Builders will get a chance to win a separate pair of Vancouver Folk Music Festival passes, just because we love them. (If you're already a Tyee Builder, watch your email inbox for this offer.) See? This is a club you want to be part of.

Are you ready to sign up now? Here's the link again. Make sure you use this specific link to be entered into the draw. If you sign up for a monthly contribution of $10 or more before midnight on Tuesday, July 14, your name will be entered into the draw. After that, we'll randomly select the winner and contact them on Wednesday, July 15.

For the love of independent reporting and folk music, sign up today!

Contest ends at midnight Pacific daylight time on July 14, 2015. [Tyee]
