Canadian media have been ramping up their cannabis coverage as recreational pot becomes legal on Oct. 17. Many have cannabis sections. A number of papers – from the Globe and Mail to the Winnipeg Free Press – now have dedicated cannabis reporters. There’s also Lift & Co., a cannabis publication that launched in 2013 to “empower informed cannabis decisions.”
That’s a lot of media resources for the cannabis beat, but that’s because it’s got many angles: health, how policies are crafted, how the new economy plays out and the latest research as scientists have easier access to cannabis (our piece on the research boom that’s on its way).
