VANCOUVER - Tuesday is the 115th anniversary of the International Olympic Committee, but the next Olympic city is being No Fun City again.
The only Vancouver event announced is Samsung's 2010 Winter Games marketing launch with Wayne Gretzky, Jarome Iginla, Hayley Wickenheiser and invited guests at the Westin Bayshore.
VANOC has held few public events in the city since anti-Olympic protesters disrupted three-year countdown ceremonies in 2007. It has not publicized any events this week, though it is expected to unveil Paralympic torch relay details Thursday.
Elsewhere in Canada, Hudson's Bay Company hosts a Winnipeg community barbeque and the Royal Canadian Mint launches a new Olympic coin in Calgary. Domestic TV rights-holder CTV will feature Olympic-related programming on Canada AM.
By comparison, 2016 Summer Games bidder Chicago has free, public fun runs and an evening concert on a beach in the Windy City.
It is possible a Vancouver event could be publicized at the last-minute.
