Marianne Bos is finance manager at The Tyee. She joined the organization in 2006 during the early years of the online journalism venture, and manages all financial tracking including payables, receivables, payroll and tax remittances, as well as providing financial reports for management and the board of directors.
After a decade in the corporate sector, she transitioned to the non-profit world in 1996 while also attending Emily Carr School of Fine Art. She has worked with various Vancouver organizations including B.E.S.T., Smartgrowth BC, the PEDAL Society including Our Community Bikes, BC Health Coalition, Check Your Head, HUB Cycling, as well as a few Galiano Island organizations including the Galiano Conservancy and Therah Housing Co-op. In addition, she sits on the board of the Galiano Club which is in charge of various food programs and managing local parks and the community hall. She has also joined the South Galiano Volunteer Firefighters crew. In her free time she enjoys ocean swimming and boating on the Salish Sea, hiking, painting, singing with her island choir and walking her cats through the woods.
