Sarah Cox

Sarah Cox is the biodiversity reporter for The Tyee.

She is a journalist and author who writes about biodiversity, climate and energy. Her investigative reporting on the Site C dam for The Narwhal won a World Press Freedom Award and the Canadian Journalism Foundation’s Jackman Award for Excellence in Journalism. She is also the recipient of other journalism awards, including the Environment and Climate Change Award from the Science Media Centre of Canada and the Canadian Association of Journalists.

Sarah is the author of two non-fiction books, Breaching the Peace: The Site C Dam and a Valley’s Stand Against Big Hydro and Signs of Life: Field Notes from the Frontlines of Extinction. Breaching the Peace won a BC Book Prize and was a finalist for the Writers’ Trust of Canada’s Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing, while Signs of Life was a finalist for a Victoria Book Prize and the Lane Anderson Award for excellence in science writing.

When she’s not at her desk, Sarah can be found exploring the natural world with a pack on her back or a paddle in her hands.
