What will Prime Minister Stephen Harper do for the climate on his trip to Washington this week? According to Environmental Defense, not much.
The group released this video, a parody of the Conservative Party's "just visiting" attack ad, in advance of Harper's visit on Wednesday. Results from the leaders' Clean Energy Dialogue, launched in February, are expected to be announced.
The video accompanies a report that criticizes Harper's record on international climate change targets.
In a press release Environmental Defense executive director Rick Smith said Harper is giving Canadians a false impression that he is serious about reducing carbon emissions.
"Harper needs to stop just visiting Obama on climate and get real," Smith stated. "We have just a few months until international climate negotiations in Copenhagen, and so far Canada is on track to show up as the industrial world's biggest embarrassment on global warming."
